Why it is important to achieve SDG 6?

Ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for everyone is crucial, because billions of people still lack access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene, and water scarcity is a growing issue that is made worse by conflict and climate change. Water pollution is another significant issue that has an impact on people’s health and the environment in many countries. The World Bank estimates that diarrheal diseases linked to inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene services kill about 446,000 children under the age of five, which accounts for 9% of the 5.8 million deaths of children under the age of five.
