The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) officially came into effect on January 1, 2016. To facilitate India’s progress towards achieving these goals, NITI Aayog has been entrusted with a pivotal role. This includes developing national indicators to track progress, overseeing the implementation of SDG-related initiatives across various ministries, and coordinating with state governments to ensure collective efforts towards achieving the development targets enshrined in the SDGs.
