– NITI Aayog says that the number of people living in poverty has dropped a lot, from 29.17% in 2013-14 to 11.28% in 2022-23.
– The SBI report says that the poverty rate in India is now under 5 percent, almost ending extreme poverty. It estimates the current rate is between 4 and 4.5 percent.
– The SBI report updated the poverty line for 2023-24 to Rs1632 for rural areas and Rs1944 for urban areas, taking inflation into account.
– Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh saw the biggest drops in the number of people living in multidimensional poverty.
